Scentsy – Review & Giveaway

Scentsy has found the Harrison household.  And as far as I’m concerned, it’s never leaving.  I am so in love with Scentsy!

I am all about scent.  In high school I burned incense (no.  not to cover any thing up ;->  I just love the smell.)  Then I moved into candles.  I enjoy just about everything about candles, except the occasional smoke that can come from either the wax, or the wick, or the mix of the wax and the wick and the ugh…   And after painting my ceiling I have discovered with every wick I begin to light I ask myself,  ‘Do I really want to do this and risk having to clean and/or repaint the ceiling?’  The answer is definitely ‘no!’

Thanks to the help of a Twitter pal, @MsErikasScents, I now know how wonderful Scentsy is.  With no flame, soot, or wick Scentsy fills your home with delicious fragrance.  Gorgeous Scentsy warmers use a low-watt bulb to melt the specially formulated wax slowly, maximizing it’s fragrance time.  I’m hooked.  If you would like to know more about Scentsy I recommend visiting the web page of Ms. Erika Felt (here).

The Naked Mom – Review & Giveaway

How’s that for a title? Host of Dancing With The Stars, and co-CEO of the popular website ModernMom.com, Brooke Burke has written a book for those of us who need a reminder that we are not in this alone, and that it’s OK to laugh, cry, scream and occasionally release our inner bitch (Her words! :-> ).

“The Naked Mom” is an easy read that will have you feel like Brooke is one of your closest friends. She begins the book with her experience on Dancing with the Stars, then goes back over her life with such honesty that you wish you could just call her and meet for coffee, or better yet catch-up over some wine.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a book written by girl who has appeared on the covers of Playboy and Shape magazine. However, after flipping through a few pages, I found myself drawn into her story and advice. In the chapter “Not Guilty” she is very honest in sharing her heartbreak of being in a loveless marriage and the guilt of what a divorce might do to her young family. She tells of feeling inadequate as a mom by doing that nasty Mom Comparison that we all need to stop. Brooke writes, guilt “…is a learned response… A choice. Guilt is a predator… Guilt is never satiated. The only way to slay this beast is to starve it.”

There are plenty of light-hearted moments and words of encouragement. Within, and at the ends of, chapters she interjects little “asides” her own “Naked Truth”. One being, “I was honored to grace the cover of Playboy twice… No regrets – it was the right thing for me to do at the time… As for my children finding out, I certainly hope I’ve raised them not to pass judgment on people…”. And no judgment here! This beautiful, talented woman has written an inspiring book for all mothers. Do yourself a favor and pick-up “The Naked Mom – A modern mom’s fearless revelations, savvy advice, and soulful reflections”. (And Brooke, you can pick-up the phone and call me anytime! ;-> )

May I Ask? Monday

Ann Again... and again Reviews

Each Monday I’ll be seeking advice on a different product or service. If it’s something you like I might like it to.  Will you help me?

Last week I asked about your favorite Eye Make-up Remover.   This week…

May I Ask:  Do You Facebook?

Ok, ok.  I’ve finally done it.  I’ve joined Facebook, kind of.  Not so much for a personal connection but more for this review/giveaway site.  I’m just beginning now so I’m learning the ropes.  Slowly, but surely, I’ll catch on.  If you have a Facebook account I would love to “friend” you.  (That’s the correct term, right?)  Let me know how to find you and I’ll do it.

I’ve created a Facebook button – badgey thing on the right of this review site.  Do you see it?  If you want to “Like” or “Friend” or whatever it is, I would be so happy!!!

I’ll be posting my giveaway opportunities and probably sharing a silly joke or two.  I don’t know.  We’ll see.

(And by the way, I’m still curious about a good eye make-up remover.  Suggestions?)

Each Monday I’ll be seeking advice on a different product or service.  Will you help me?

Last week I asked about your favorite mascara.  This week…
May I Ask : What eye make-up remover do you like?
I’ve used Almay eye make-up remover pads but, even though I choose the gentlest formula they have, my eyes still feel blurry and irritated.
So, what brand do you like?  Maybe I’ll like it too :->

Campbells Select Harvest

When it comes to soup I think I make some pretty darn good Chicken Noodle soup.  It’s a little different everytime but that’s OK.  When you’re cooking it’s good to mix things up a bit, add a dash of this, a little splash of that.  Have fun.

For those days that I don’t have the time to make my own soup I feel good serving Campbells Select Harvest to my family.  (I can’t believe how excited my 13 year old gets by this soup!).  Campbells Select features 12 100% Natural varieties.  For my kids I serve it as it was created by Campbells.  For my husband and I we add a bit of red pepper flakes, some black pepper, a little tabasco, and sometimes I add kidney beans.  I seem to be going through a legume phase – daily I’m eating garbonzo beans, lima beans and/or kidney beans.  Why?  I don’t know ;->

If you would like to serve Campbells Select Harvest to your family why not print out this $1.00 off coupon?  (Coupon here).  Every little bit helps, I always say.   Try Light Savory Chicken with Vegetable, Light Greek Style Minestrone with Whole Grain Pasta or Light Southwestern Style Vegetable.

 Enjoy and stay warm!

(*Disclosure:  As a member of SheSpeaks I was given the opportunity to enjoy Campbells Select Harvest and to share this coupon offer with my readers.)

May I Ask? Monday

I love to share fun, interesting, stylish items with you.  I’m always asking friends and family for suggestions about their favorite products and that’s usually how I decide where to spend my money.  If it works for them, that’s good enough for me.

Now I would like to expand my net and ask my great followers about products they like.  Each Monday I’ll be seeking advice on a different product or service.  Will you help me?  ;->  My Monday feature, “May I Ask? Monday” begins now!

May I Ask:  What is your favorite mascara?

It’s no secret that the older you get your lashes seem to disappear.  I know women who are so fair-skinned that their lashes look invisible until they put on mascara.  I’m not there yet, but I do notice that I need something that will plump up my lashes and hopefully add some curl as well.  I do use an eyelash curler but lately, after I put on mascara, my lashes seem to droop.

So, what mascara is your favorite?  Maybe it will work for me too!

Susie Rose

Stylish and priced right, that is the Susie Rose clothing line.  I found something funky and fun, for my self-professed 10 year old “Fashion Girl” :

and something stylish, but not as “girly”, for my newly crowned 13 year old card carrying tom-boy:

Susie Rose is sold exclusively at Walmart so the prices are budget friendly.  Prices range from $8 to $25. Your girls with feel like they have something special, and you won’t have to struggle to get them motivated to get ready in the morning.  The Susie Rose designs are fun and current and my girls can’t wait to wear them!

And check out these celebs in Susie Rose:

I WANT that dress that is being worn by Kate Beckinsale!  Ah, to dream of warm weather and wearing this dress.  Lovely.  And I could totally go for that tank and skirt on Sienna Miller.  (I’m counting down the days for when the warm sunshine will hit the Pacific Northwest ;-> )

Find these Susie Rose fashions, and more, exclusively at Walmart.

(*Disclosure:  I was offered designs from the Susie Rose line in exchange for this review.  My opinions are truthfully my own.*)
