Stanley Home – Degreaser Concentrate Review

I’m getting ready for the holidays by clearing out the unwanted items and cleaning up what ever is left behind. (I can not believe how dirty our little house gets!)  I’ve found a product that’s helping me big time, Stanley Home Degreaser Concentrate.

I prefer to use products that do as many things as possible and this degreaser really fits my needs.  Check out some not-so-obvious uses for Stanley Home Degreaser:

  • To keep drains running smoothly pour 1 tsp. down the drain and allow to set overnight.
  • Clean garbage disposals by adding 1 tsp. of Degreaser to 1 quart warm water. Pour solution into disposal and allow it to set overnight.
  • To maintain your stove’s exhaust fan, periodically remove grease and lint accumulation from the hood. Soak the mesh wire filter in solution of 1 tbsp. Degreaser and hot water for 5 minutes. Rinse and dry
  • Soak hair brushes and combs in 1 tsp. Degreaser per 1 quart of warm water. Allow to soak for 10 minutes before cleaning.

Stanley Home Degreaser Concentrate is 4x more concentrated than other cleaners which is perfect for those that are looking to use less, making a little go a lo-o-ong way.  (And less plastic containers in our landfills.) It is safe for septic systems, biodegradable, and phosphate-free.

You can find more information on this degreaser concentrate and other Stanley Home Products at http://www.shponline.com/

Simple AND Easy

Guest post written by my buddy Aldo Mays

Last night we had our quarterly building co-op meeting. One of the topics on the agenda was New York Energy Rates. Apparently there are many simple ways you can save money on your heating and energy bills around the house. One suggestion was to use your ceiling fans wisely. You can set most modern ceiling fans to reverse during the winter, pushing the warm air down. Another suggestion we should all do more often is change your air filters. Blocked air filters are extremely inefficient. Use a humidifier. Because I am originally from the south, I should have thought of this one. We always used to complain in Georgia that it isn’t the heat it’s the humidity and apparently we were right! Humidity will make it feel warmer. You can also consider setting your thermostat lower. Setting it just a couple of degrees lower can keep it from running as often. Think of it as another opportunity to wear that awesome new coat you just couldn’t live without the last time you were at Nordstrom’s!

My Klout Rant

I have been trying to understand Klout for a few months now.  What will it do for me?  And why should I care?  It just seemed like another blogger popularity contest that was proving, literally, I wasn’t going to make the grade.  Or, number in this case.

I was playing along, seeing if my increased participation on Twitter would up my score, and it did.  OK then.  I would see if I would receive any fun “perks”.  Well, I received some, but they were more of “$10 toward the purchase of something-and-something that costs a heck of a lot more than $10”.

I was getting so into the possibility of increasing my Klout score for the chance at more opportunities that I was beginning to freak out.  You see, I was going on a fun family vacation for 7 days and wouldn’t have access to my laptop.  Can you believe that?  I was letting the notion that my Klout score would lower hinder my excitement at a fantastic time away with my family.

Then it hit me, how is it that Klout can assume that my readers/followers would think I have less to offer just because I wasn’t posting/Tweeting for a few days?  After building relationships with my readers/followers/friends they are going to lower my “rank” and lessen my chance with future review campaigns?  That just doesn’t sit well with me.  I think much, much more of my readers than that, and hope that companies will continue to make a human connection with me and not reference my Klout score as a true representation of me.  None of us should be reduced to being a number.

Now, I’m probably getting overly excited about this, but I just needed to vent.  And I know, as my super cool, super wonderful readers, that you get me.  No matter what a number in an orange bubble shows.

CanadaPost For Laptops

For my friends in Canada, who are on the look-out for wonderful deals on laptop computers, I would like to guide you to a very helpful website, CanadaPost.ca.

My laptop is doing something very funky with its monitor, when I look at the screen all images are highlighted with a pink hue.  Now, if I loved the color pink so much that I wish I could look at the world through pink colored glasses then this would be the laptop for me!  However, all it does is give me an unnecessary headache and be a constant reminder that I need a new laptop computer.

For my Canadian pals going through something similar, or just need a laptop, check-out CanadaPost.ca.

From Chapter 1 “Save Money, Live Generously” Kelly gets you in the mood to slow down, understand what is truly necessary and get enthusiastic about your new journey of saving money.  I’m pumped!  I’m ready!  She takes you through the organizational process of what your pantry should have stocked, which I think most of us are kind of clueless about, to Chapter 3 “Warming Up To The Freezer” with a very handy chart of the freezer life of most meats and cheeses.  (Did you know you could freeze cheese? I didn’t.)

I’m so happy to have “Save Money, Live Generously…”  I really feel like I have a wonderful guide to saving money and providing healthy food for my family.  And… guess what?  I have one copy of “Saving Savvy” for a giveaway to one lucky Ann Again… and again Reviews reader!  Follow the Rafflecopter instructions to enter:

Bormioli Rocco Glassware – Perfect For The Holidays

Since we are getting into the holiday season here are some ideas to help with gift giving and home entertaining decor using Bormioli Rocco Glassware.

Fall is the time to start preserving homemade jams and relish.  (My husband creates the most delicious blackberry freezer jam :-> )  Bormioli Rocco’s “Fido Jars” are a wonderful way to contain your delicious creations.  The containers have easy-to-open metal latches to keep the jars air tight, preserving the freshness of food while locking out moisture, perfect for any treat you would like to share with family and friends for the upcoming holiday season.  You can find Bormioli glassware at Macy’s  3 piece set for $24.99

A beautiful way to spice up the décor of your party is to serve your guests beverages in Bormioli Rocco’s colorful “Ypsilon” Jug. I think fall calls for a bright color scheme to balance to darker days and nights. Choose a bright red or orange jug, which are both great for fall.  To liven things up a few more notches, mix and match the colors to make the atmosphere more festive. You can purchase these beautiful jugs at Bloomingdale’s for $12.50 each.
(*disclosure:  I received Bormioli  Rocco Glassware for review.  I like it!  You see for yourself)

I have found the most perfect tops and I am so excited to share them with you! And I have a giveaway too!  Created by Debbie Vinyard, a  mother and cancer survivor, Happy First tops are absolutely fantastic.  Inspired by her passion for positivity, her affinity for fashion and illustration, Debbie has created a line for all who are ready to encourage the message; Happy First then make it last.

I love the softness of the fabric and the way the tops hold their shape.  I have a long torso and the hoodie and t-shirts are the absolute perfect length, hitting below the hips and covering that dang over-40 tummy bulge that I’m doing my best to get rid of. The long-sleeves fit slightly longer than typical long-sleeve shirts, which I love! And guess what else I love?  The fact that I get to share a 25% discount code for my lovely readers!  Enter:  annagain at check-out and receive 25% off your order.

Each shirt has a design that is more of a slight detail than a garish advertisement.  When you wear Happy First you will promote love, peace and happiness.  yeah baby!

When you go on your daily jog the perfect shirt for you is “Runner Chick”.  So cute!

The delicate design of “Live In Full Bloom” is just enough to send you on your way toward a happy day.

When you meet friends wearing the “Happy Hour” hoodie, meaning – be happy every hour – I know they’ll ask where they can get one too!

Prices range from $25 to $49.  I’ve washed my shirts twice and they have turned out as good as brand new.  Happy First also has lines for baby and toddler.  Just so darn cute!!!

Do yourself a favor and visit the beautiful site of Happy First to discover your new favorite top. And how about you “like” Debbie/Happy First on Facebook.  We need all the positive messages we can get, wouldn’t you agree? :->

HandVibes

A fun alternative to passing out candy this Halloween, try the latest fashion fad HandVibes.

HandVibes are a fun way for kids to display their attitudes on their fingertips.  Each rubber ring shares a message – there’s LOL, Dude, Fresh, Peace and OMG  – just a few of the 25 sayings your child will be more than happy to share on their fingers – or toes!

My girls quickly checked out the “Mystery Ring” that’s hidden in the bottom of every pack of HandVibes.  They’re the latest version of a mood ring.  No guessing how my daughter is feeling when she’s wearing “Chillin’ “.  For some reason I’m drawn to “True Dat”.  It’s silly and fun and we all need of that in our lives, wouldn’t you agree?

HandVibes are poised to become the newest craze in kids’ collectible, and fun-to-trade fashion.  Look for them at a store near you soon.
(*disclosure:  I was offered sets of HandVibes for my honest review*)

Nonni's Biscotti Bites Review

Now that the weather is turning chilly I think my body must be getting ready to hybernate because all I want to do is eat (mostly sweets) and sleep.  Recently I tried a lovely little snack that is helping me stay within bounds of what’s right regarding calories, and satisfying to my sweet tooth, Nonni’s Biscotti Bites.

The original biscotti maker creates a 40 calorie bite that is absolutely delicious and perfect for that time of day when you just want a “little something” but don’t want the guilt of a full candy bar. ( Sure, you only want one bite – maybe two – but you know you’ll end up eating the whole bar ;-> )

Nonni’s Biscotti come in delicious flavors including Almond Dark Chocolate, Caramel Milk Chocolate and Classic Almond.  The texture is crunchy and will hold up to being dunked in your coffee, tea, or milk.  But you can eat these alone as well.  They aren’t so hard that you’ll lose a crown.  (I’ve heard stories!)
You can find Nonni’s Biscotti at your grocery store in the cookie aisle.
(*disclosure:  I received samples of Nonni’s Biscotti Bites for review.  My sentiments are truthfully my own*)

They have the full line of Disney Princess dresses, cute vampires, and sporty cheerleaders in the Girls Costumes area.  It was tough for my daughter to choose, but she is very happy with her cowgirl look.
