The Digest Diet – 1 Week Later

I am not a “diet” person.  I stopped going by the latest eating fad years (and years) ago.  I knew I had had enough when I fell for the Cabbage Soup Diet.  “Flush Pounds Away With This Amazing Soup!”  I don’t need to say any more about that one, do I? 

I finally got to the point of knowing to eat more vegetables, (still trying with the fruit) my dining plates are the smaller “bread” plate and not the normal Main Dish plate and that is that.  Exercise, eat pretty well, there you go.  Well, after years of reading about the changes your body goes through when you get older, this here body o’ mine has hit the 45 year mark and it has also hit the metabolism wall.  What the heck?!

I decided to venture toward The Digest Diet that I read about in Readers Digest.  It claims to have discovered the foods that are “fat releaser’s” and the book is full of recipes for ways to create breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks with these foods.  My husband and I are on Day 9 and I will be honest, I’m kinda hungry.

Truthfully, we are eating very healthy, good food.  The recipes are delicious and the herbs and spices that are in the “fat releaser” category have helped create interesting dishes.  I believe my husband and I have both lost 5, maybe 6 lbs., in 9 days.  At the start I didn’t believe I was a big eater but… I’m hungry. 

We’ll continue with The Digest Diet.  As I said, the food is good, healthy food.  We’ll see…

    are you doing the exercise program?

    • I’m not sticking to the exercise program really well. Which is odd because exercise isn’t usually a problem for me. It’s just that my time is being used up in other areas – I need to work it in though.

    • Does your husband eat more servings than you? I can’t image my boyfriend eating the same calories as me!

    May daughter and I LOVE the digest diet. We are in our 5th week; we both have lost about 15 pounds. Our cravings are under control and I have never experienced anything like this – it is the diet I have been looking for my entire life.

    • That’s so good to hear! My husband and I aren’t counting the weeks any more, just using the wonderful recipes, smoothies, herbs and spices in our daily eating routines.

      It really has changed our eating for the better :->

  4. Day 2 and I am starving! No energy to excersize. I like the shakes, though. Just trying to hang on till Day 5, for more food:)

  6. My husband and I are on day 3. Doing OK. We each have lost 2 pounds each day. YEAH! But we are both ready for the next phase! I really don’t care for the shakes, but love having avacado everyday.

  8. The shakes are fruit, yogurt, coconut milk, and some other stuff. I can do a strawberry one OK using non-fat milk instead of the coco milk. We are on P2 now and doing OK!

  10. My husband and I have stayed on it, continuing on phase 2 & 3. Doing very well. This is easy to stay on. I do wish RD would come out with some new recipes! I have converted some of my own to healthier versions.

  11. Hi – this is the first time i’ve ever dieted and have a modest weight loss goal of 10lbs. I’m currently on Day 3 and am losing motivation quickly! I was under the impression that the first 4 days were designed to facilitate rapid weight loss ? So far I havent lost a singel pound and feel bloated and constipated ! Does this sound familiar to anyone?

    • Oh geez, I’m replying wa-a-a-a-ay too late! Doreen, are you still using the eating plan of the Digest Diet? If so, you may have seen my follow-up posts where I said I needed to add fiber to my shakes. (Which is odd since there is fruit in the shakes but that’s just what was needed and that’s that.)

    Hello Everyone,
    I began the Digest Diet 6 days ago and this morning, I begin my 6th day. I have lost a total of 6 pounds in 6 days. Who would have guessed? What I do not like is the “salt” they ask us to use. I’m not one to use sodium, however….everything else is great! Love it~
