Surrounded by birds chirping, virtual logging trucks and tree trunks over 200 years old the celebration to honor 25 years of OPB’s Oregon Field Guide was right at home at The World Forestry Center in Washington Park. Host Steve Amen was welcoming and charming with his conversations and OFG’s producers and camera crew were happy to share their stories of favorite episodes and efforts that go into achieving the perfect shot. My husband and I really enjoy watching Oregon Field Guide and hearing about the trials of climbing the trails and the care in telling the tales made me appreciate it all the more.
We enjoyed a delightful wine and appetizer hour in the main lobby of the World Forestry Center. The evening continued in the Harry Merlo hall to meet the crew of Oregon Field Guide. We were treated to a sneak peek of an episode featuring a treasure in our own backyard that has been a bit of a “inner circle” secret for years, but will now come to light on the premiere episode which airs October 8th. Hint: It has something to do with Mt. Hood, and you will be surprised. So exciting!
The highlight of my night was realizing I’m surrounded by people who love the state of Oregon as much as I do. I may not be the intrepid hiker, camper, or fisherman but I do appreciate the glorious beauty of this state and I love the connection I feel to my fellow Oregonians when I watch Oregon Field Guide. Be sure to watch the season premiere Tuesday, October 10th on your local OPB station.

When it comes to beauty products I get such a thrill from trying something what’s new and using what’s tried and true. I’ve been hearing about the benefits of foundation primers so I thought I’d try what was available from my favorite foundation’s product line BareMinerals. I love what make-up can do for a face, but I don’t want to look like I’m wearing “make-up”. With regard to make-up, I’m a dichotomy.
I get such a charge from make-up aisles! I love to see all the colors, products, tips and techniques. I can’t pass up looking through magazines to see what the latest tricks are and check to see if what was once listed as “classic” and “no fail” has held up over the course of time. (Maybelline Great Lash in the classic pink tube being one of them.) However, with all of my joy of make-up I don’t like to wear a lot of make-up. I like to use the most minimal of products that will have the greatest effect. And that’s why I am thrilled with my latest find from bareEscentials/bareMinerals – Prime Time Neutralizing Foundation Primer. $23.00 for 1 Fl. Oz. A little goes a long way.
After years of using liquid foundation I’ve found that the powder formulas from bareMinerals work best for me and I recommend them to any and all who ask. Now I’ve found that if I want a much smoother look, using a primer is key. And NOW I’ve found a primer from bareMinerals that has a tint to neutralize any redness on my face. I can use this neutralizing primer alone and feel ready to walk out the door without using foundation. It’s very light on the skin, reduces the redness and minimizes the appearance of your pores. And it has a terrific texture! If you choose to wear bareMinerals foundation over this primer you will be on your way to creating a flawless complexion.

Concannon Vineyards in Livermore, CA has created a line of wines sourced from protected vineyards in the Livermore Valley that are extremely pleasing and worth your consideration. While searching for a Chardonnay that wasn’t overly oakey or buttery, yet wasn’t heavy on the tart side, I was becoming very discouraged. I can’t believe how difficult it is to generate a completely pleasant Chardonnay. Then I sipped Concannon Conservancy Chardonnay and smiled.
I had it a bit too cold so I warmed the glass with my hands for a few minutes then enjoyed every sip. THIS is the Chardonnay I’ve been looking for. Slight pear and apple at the top with a hint of butter, along with a creamy sweetness, at the finish. Delicious.
The Conservancy Crimson & Clover red was a tad on the sweet side, with its hints of vanilla, for my husband. However I found it delightful in the fruit area, very rich and perfect for a cold winter’s evening. My husband had made fresh pizza and Crimson & Clover went perfectly with the rich tomato sauce and creamy mozzarella. I was such a good friend ( ;-> ) and shared sips with guests the other night. It was a crowd pleaser!
Not only are the bottles a gorgeous design, you will be proud to serve Concannon Conservancy wines at your next gathering because of their quality and taste. Priced at $18.00 I highly recommend Concannon Conservancy.

Sure, it started subtlety enough. A little bit of body warmth, a little more padding on my hips, my stomach. I thought these were the results of the new frozen yogurt place my girls and I discovered. But, alas, no. After many months of avoiding said absolutely-delicious-frozen-yogurt-place and feeling a bit tired, and a bit warmer and sweaty as the days passed I checked with my doctor and yes, “it” has started, Menopause. Egads! And, eh, oh well. Do I think I’m too young? Yes. However I’m not the one in charge here, it’s my hormones. It’s a part of life so let’s see what we can do to make this part easier, shall we? The Good, The Bad and The Sweaty, that’s me! How about you? Be a part of the conversation – Leave a comment below.
I’ve found Estroven, a natural product that includes in its line a weight management supplement.
Estroven Weight Management – also helps control hot flashes and night sweats.
Sounds good to me!
I really need to get my belly under control. It’s such a strange feeling, my waist and my wrists were once the smallest things about me ;-> and now my waist and belly seem to have a life of their own. Oh no you don’t! I need to get this under control before it’s out of control.
Along with taking this Estroven supplement they offer online guidance from 3 experts in the area of menopause at a lovely site titled Changing Ways: Dr. Shari Brasner, M.D. – health and wellness. Leann Skinner, RD, LD – Nutrition and wellness. Deb Horn – Movement and exercise. Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer Deb Horn has created an 8 week work out plan with easy to follow instructions that mixes up different types of exercise which will help keep me motivated to stay on the program. Do I get easily bored with the same routine? Yes, yes I do. After looking over this 8-week plan I’m excited to get started. With this exercise plan, and taking the Estroven weight management supplement, I’m hopeful to be a more comfortable me.
Only Estroven has a full line of products that safely and effectively provides multi-symptom menopause relief so you can feel like you again. Each product in the line contains naturally-sourced ingredients that go beyond reducing hot flashes and night sweats to relieve your most bothersome menopause symptoms. For me now that’s menopause weight management and daytime hot flashes. More info:
NEW Estroven Weight Management shows to provide safe, multi-symptom menopause relief, plus helps safely manage weight. Further research on this product shows Estroven Weight Management reduces hot flashes and night sweats, plus helps safely manage weight. I plan to stay healthy by eating well and exercising with Deb Horn’s easy to follow fitness plan and taking Estroven Weight Management, one capsule in the morning and one at night. These steps, done together, should bring me back to a more comfortable balance. I’m looking forward to that! I’ll let you know how I’m doing. Please join the discussion on the Estroven Facebook page.
So, how are you doing? :->

My husband and I participated in The Color Run in Portland and we had a sweet, zippy ride to take us there – a 2014 Chevy Cruze. Chevrolet was a proud sponsor of The Color Run – The Happiest 5K on the Planet:
After running and/or walking the 5K you are greeted at the Finish Line with a fun dance party. This is your chance to throw more color in the air to make sure you are completely saturated. Chevy provided a fun quiz with sweet prizes at the end of the race too. (I’m enjoying my back pack!)
Getting to and from the race was so sweet. This car likes to move which was especially fun on open roads. It’s quiet and has very cozy seats. The 2014 Chevy Cruze has a terrific Infotainment system so we checked into the Sirius XM radio to find just the right music to get us ready to move.
We used the OnStar hands-free calling to check in with our girls before we started our race. Love the voice activated features!
Our girls favorite part is the rear view screen. We live on a busy street, full of cars, runners, cyclists of all ages and any help with our vision while backing up is much appreciated. Also great when you’re parking. (This feature is really terrific!)
My husband and I were thrilled to take part in The Color Run in Portland. Look for this run in your area! And I am so very, very happy with my experience driving a 2014 Chevy Cruze around town. There was plenty of room for my family of 4, long legs and tall torsos fit comfortably. Not easy to find. Have I mentioned the incredible gas mileage?! WOW! For five days I have been all over the town, back-and-forth, stuck in traffic and on clear highways and I still have a half a tank of gas. Thank you Chevy for my 2014 Cruze experience!

Is there any clearer message from a product name than “Food Should Taste Good”? I don’t think so. And hey, I completely agree with them!
I am a crunchy, salty food craving girl so when I was given the opportunity to try chips from the company Food Should Taste Good I was more than happy to check out their taste. My first thought wasn’t so much about the flavor as much as it was the sensation of eating a true food. These aren’t highly processed chips, Food Should Taste Good has created chips from real food, using quality oils, and the taste is fantastic!
When it comes to processed foods I am very weary about what I allow in our cupboards. Yes, my girls ask for the big name chips and puffs that turn your fingers a bright orange, but those just aren’t for me. I don’t feel good when I eat things like that. And what’s available in our home, for the most part, dictates what my children eat. (My oldest is 15 so when she goes to the store with her friends I can only hope she makes healthy choices. Teenagers!)
Food Should Taste Good has created delicious flavors: Olive, Lime, Sweet Potato, MultiGrain, Blue Corn and Cheddar. The MultiGrain has a light taste, with a heartiness that was perfect with the salsa I picked up at the Farmer’s Market. For an ever-so-slightly sweet taste the Sweet Potato chip tastes good paired with a fruit salsa or your favorite fruit jam. The Olive, with pieces of olive in each chip, was absolutely delicious with sun-dried tomato hummus. So good!
All natural, Gluten Free, certified vegan, no trans fats with very low sodium Food Should Taste Good chips are absolutely delicious. I’m hooked! You can find these chips at New Seasons, Target, Walmart – I saw them at Costco the other day! The bigger the bag of these chips the better! For more information visit: http://www.foodshouldtastegood.com/ .
