The holidays are coming. Don’t shake your head! Accept it and get prepared. We host dinners and parties at our house with the holiday’s being the peak entertaining season. Now Keurig has created a coffee maker that fits my individual coffee needs and the needs of my guests – the Keurig 2.0 – brew a cup or a carafe at the touch of a button.
I was selected by Influenster to try the Keurig 2.0 Model 550 brewer. The features of model 550:
• Extra Large 80 oz Water Reservoir
• Large Color Touch Display
• Programmable Clock
• Hot Water on Demand
• Customizable Night-Light in Water Reservoir
• Strength Control
• Water Filter and Cartridge
• Starter Carafe Included
• 6 K-Cup® packs and 4 K‑Carafe™ packs
The first thing I learned from trying to use this new brewer is that it doesn’t accept older K-Cups (those produced before 2014 – I didn’t realize I even had “old” cups. Hmmm.) The lovely display screen said “Oops” and showed a number for me to call. I was told about the old cup situation and was given a code to order newer cups on the house. Nice. This brewer does come with 6 K-cup asst. coffee packs and 4 K-Carafe asst. coffee packs to get you on your way.
I think the set-up was easy. Along with the handy-dandy “How To” book included, the large display screen prompted me to set-up the brewer quickly and gave some pretty fun options as well. You can choose the color you want in the water reservoir, choose a color or pattern on the display screen and select an analog clock or digital display.
For carafe use you have the option of using the built-in timer. This way you can have a carafe holding up to four cups of coffee waiting for you when you wake-up. (We all have those kinds of mornings, don’t we?) A pot of coffee is welcome at dinner parties and on those hard-to-wake-up mornings too.
I’m very pleased for the ability to brew more than one cup of coffee at a time. Fewer K-cups are used which makes me happy, that has always been an issue with my conscience. I came across a fun list titled “25 Creative Ways To Re-Use Your Keurig’s K-Cup’s“. Many ideas for kids holiday crafts are included.
The performance of the Keurig 2.0 was very pleasant and I am very glad that I was able to share my experience with you. So, what do you think of Keurig?
