In our house we have coffee drinkers, hot chocolate connoisseurs and tea enthusiasts. And with all of these preferences it would be great if we had counter space/cupboard room to accommodate all of these tastes. Well, we have it now with the Keurig 2.0! Not only can this brewer create individual coffee, hot chocolate and tea options it can also brew a full size carafe of coffee at the touch of a button. (And Keurig has made a massive improvement regarding K-Cups with the 2.0! *hint = It’s Reusable!* See below!) Keurig 2.0 – Now We’re Brewing!
I was selected by Influenster to try the Keurig 2.0 Model 550 brewer. The features of model 550:
• Extra Large 80 oz Water Reservoir
• Large Color Touch Display
• Programmable Clock
• Hot Water on Demand
• Customizable Night-Light in Water Reservoir
• Strength Control
• Water Filter and Cartridge
• Starter Carafe Included
• 6 K-Cup® packs and 4 K‑Carafe™ packs
The first thing I learned from trying to use this new brewer is that it doesn’t accept older K-Cups (those produced before 2014 – I didn’t realize I even had “old” cups. Hmmm.) The lovely display screen said “Oops” and showed a number for me to call. I was told about the old cup situation and was given a code to order newer cups on the house. Nice.
Hear Ye, Hear Ye! A terrific update with the Keurig 2.0 is that it now has a reusable my K-cup Coffee Filter!
You can brew what ever brand of coffee you want. Perfect! It’s sturdy, easy to fill and can brew 4 oz. to 12 oz. (depending on your brewer). Also, a great solution for those that enjoy tea as well as coffee, with the reusable K-cup you’ll receive what ever amount of hot water you choose, not the 6 oz. that is it’s default setting. (Which is odd, don’t you think?)
I think the set-up was easy. Along with the handy-dandy “How To” book included, the large display screen prompted me to set-up the brewer quickly and gave some pretty fun options as well. You can choose the color you want in the water reservoir, choose a color or pattern on the display screen and select an analog clock or digital display. Change colors to go with the holidays! I like to find any kind of fun where ever I can ;->
For carafe use you have the option of using the built-in timer. This way you can have a carafe holding up to four cups of coffee waiting for you when you wake-up. (We all have those mornings, don’t we?) A pot of coffee is welcome at dinner parties and on those hard-to-wake-up mornings too.
I’m very pleased for the ability to brew more than one cup of coffee at a time. Fewer K-cups are used which makes me happy, that has always been an issue with my conscience. I came across a fun list titled “25 Creative Ways To Re-Use Your Keurig’s K-Cup’s“. Many ideas for kids holiday crafts are included.
The performance of the Keurig 2.0 was is great and I am very glad that I was able to share my experience with you. So, what do you think of Keurig?
